In case you do not know what exactly the title refers to, it is when the carpet looks black when it's supposed to look white or beige. It's heavily soiled because it's been accumulating all the dirt for a long period of time that it changes color and looks permanent. But today, we are going to tell you that it is not permanent and that it can be reversed back to normal.
Let's get to the procedure that we normally take as a commercial cleaning company.
The soiled-carpet cleaning process
The process that I am going to explain is that which we use as a professional, which means there is some carpet cleaning equipment involved in which regular homes do not usually hold. You could try using other products like a standard vacuum instead of the CRB machine that we hold for example, but there are instances where a standard household vacuum simply won't do the trick.
The first thing to start off with is to apply the pre-treatment and run the CRB machine (counter-rotating brushes) onto the whole area of the carpet. You must make sure the soil is agitated enough and the pre-treatment is well absorbed into the carpet.
Now that the soil and dirt are broken up and loose on the carpet, you can then begin to extract it using an extraction cleaning device. We use a hot water extraction device connected with a pipe to our truck. Use the extraction device carefully and slowly to get most of the broken-up soils sucked into the machine.
Do some gentle backstrokes with the extraction device to make sure the dirt gets plunged out. And make sure to press well into the carpet, extend your strokes all the way up to edges of the walls and overlap on the way back to the starting edge.
Also, when using the extraction method, you don't have to keep it running the whole time. Give the carpet a parallel stroking pattern, and then do the same pattern with draw strokes, meaning that you just press onto the carpet without the extraction activated.
Once you're done with the extraction vacuuming, you can then grab a hard brush and use it to give the carpet once last light agitation to get the fibers even and smooth.
And that is all there is to it. Be sure to check out our home page to find out more information on carpet cleaning, or call us on 0161-509-6069 if you have any questions regarding residential or commercial carpet cleaning.
